A School Update

We are putting the final touches on the school. These are the most recent pictures that I have though the school even looks better than this now. We finished with all of the structural work... We laid floors, plastered what was bare brick walls (inside and out), replaced a structural beam that runs along the ceiling, laid the concrete walkway in front, replaced the doors, put in windows and shutters and most recently painted a skirting on the inside and outside. I need to get back out to take more pictures. Thanks to our co-workers Danielle and Amanda L who gave us a donation that funded the last bit of work. We still haven't put in the new bathroom but need to do another round of fund raising. Thanks again to all those that gave us money to get this far. People are talking about this place now. Its the nicest public structure in the area. I was told that politicians will hold gatherings there. A friend took his entire church congregation up to the school just to see it. Its cool to see how much of a difference just a little money can make.

 

 

The little boy in front is always the first one to greet us when we go to the school. He walks up and puts his hand out to shake. "Hi Mr. Bobo"

 

 

All in all things have been going well. The biggest change is in the lack of electricity. We (us and the rest of southern africa) are dealing with regular power shedding. The power is normally out for 6 hours a day. 3 in the morning and 3 in the evening. Just the times that you want to use the electric stove. We're learning to deal with it.
