Dance Contests, Potato Chips, Babboons, and Chobe National Park
Thanks for checking back. I know that it has been awhile and there are some that have just given up. And then there was you. We are fighting a slow internet connection when we have one at all, but I am busy preparing the most action packed blog-stuff yet. At the end of December we travelled through southern and central Zambia and then to Tanzania for a week. We were with our friend Kevin and started off to Livingstone to see Victoria Falls. But the trip really started in Lusaka the night before with one of the best work Christmas parties. Notice the decorations...Michelle's handiwork.
So there wasn't really a dance contest but Kevin and I would not have placed if there was. Michelle maybe.

Right to left is Lisa, the Medical Intern, Michelle and one of the project drivers, Geoffrey.
Kevin learned (or was at least shown) how to open a beer with another beer. I valuable skill that I don't quite have yet.
Kevin has most of the pictures from Livingstone and plenty of stories about bus travel in Zambia. He experienced first hand our luck with buses. Highlights included our rafting trip down the Zambezi River which started at the base of the falls. At one point the raft was upside down on top of us as we tumbled through the rapids. It was plenty scary in the raft, being in the water with the raft on top of us was something we could have done without. At another point all but two got thrown from the raft in a level 5 rapid. Michelle was picked up by a kayaker as Kevin and I floated through the white water. They close the portion of the river that we did when there's more water.
This babboon stole about 5-6 bags of chips from an unsuspecting tourist and then ate them all one after another. A strange site.
This cat stole a ping pong ball from two unsuspecting tourists.
We went on a night cruise. Saw some hippos. But the strangest thing was a crocodile swimming on top of the water with an impala in its mouth. I think Michelle deleted the picture from the camera on accident. It was a good one though.
We got to the southern border of Zambia and took the ferry into Botswana. It was a short ride into Chobe National Park. The park is home to approximately 120,000 elephants. We saw a fraction of them. Also saw a leopard sleeping but couldn't get a good picture without getting out of the vehicle and getting up close. We couldn't find a willing photographer. We got plenty close though. This elephant was about to cross the road as we came by. It wasn't happy to see us.
